Book cover for Young Bucks: Killing the Business from Backyards to the Big Leagues by Matt and Nick Jackson. The image shows the two shirtless authors, wearing matching "Be Elite" headbands and wrestling tights, standing head down in a mirrored pose against a blue and pink background. Bold, stylized text features the book title and subtitle prominently.

Nicholas and Matthew Massie are better known by their wrestling names: Matt and Nick Jackson - The Young Bucks. Like many, I’ve been aware of their careers since they started making waves on the indie scene. Unlike many fans, I don’t think I’ve ever watched a full Young Bucks match - but that’s nothing against them or their work.

The book covers the Bucks’ wrestling carreers from pretty much the first moves in their SoCal living room and backyard, through their breakthroughs with PWG, the Bullet Club in NJPW, their Being The Elite videos, and then being co-founders of AEW.

I had a bit of trouble getting into the first quarter (not sure why), but I was hooked soon after. It’s a fascinating tale of working hard, believing in yourself, and hustling to make ends meet. A great read for anyone into pro-wrestling - even if you’ve never seen a Young Bucks match. 😅
