Book cover for A Very English Murder by Verity Bright, featuring an illustration of a glamorous woman in a gold dress and red hair accessory holding a cigarette holder. She stands beside a small white dog in front of a stylized backdrop of a grand English manor house, trees, and geometric patterns. The text describes it as "A Lady Eleanor Swift Mystery Book 1" and "An absolutely gripping cozy murder mystery."

A fun short mystery novel about an heiress who returns home after her father died, and witnesses a murder on her first night back. Fun, simple characters and a straight story without many unexpected plot twists. The only thing that annoyed me a bit was the “let’s do something” attitude of the protagonist, as it made her feel more of a hindrance than a help to finding the murderer at times.
